All The Way To Hell | Reception + Artist Talk with Eliza Evans

Join us to celebrate a new outdoor sculptural installation by Eliza Evans in Narrowsburg, NY. The work, entitled All The Way To Hell, continues the artist’s ongoing experimentation with creative forms of climate change resistance. It exploits unique features of U.S. private property ownership to impede natural gas extraction in Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

Come to meet the artist and hear a short talk about the work.

Eliza Evans experiments with sculpture, print, video, and textiles to identify disconnections and absurdities in social, economic, and ecological systems. Evans was born in a rustbelt steel town and raised in rural Appalachia. Her work has been exhibited at the Thomas Erben Gallery, Chautauqua Institution, Edward Hopper House Museum, The SITE ChaNorth, and BRIC. Residencies include the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, Bronx Museum AIM, and Franconia Sculpture Park. Evans holds an MFA from SUNY Purchase College in visual art and a PhD in economic sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.

This project was organized by Tal Beery and Arts and Ecology Inc. in partnership with the Tusten Heritage Community Garden and the Narrowsburg Beautification Group, with special thanks to the Town of Tusten. It is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
