SR Lejeune | murmuration

May 02, 2026 - Jun 07, 2026

Artist talk: Saturday, May 2nd, 3pm
Opening Party: Saturday, May 2nd, 4-6pm

Artist Statement:

yield. The useable accumulation from a harvest. A sign indicating someone else has the right of way. An act of giving in—structurally, emotionally.

yield point. In material testing, stress and strain are graphed. There is a moment on these curves when elastic (a rubber band stretches but returns to its original size) becomes plastic (a ball of clay squeezed between fingers holds the new shape of a fist).

After enough use, a spring becomes fatigued. It takes on a new form.

murmuration. As the sun goes down starlings move through the sky in waves, ripples of hot air. I read a paper theorizing that their movement is not unlike that of electrons when something near them is magnetized. In spiraling currents, each bird turns back towards the center, each copying the movement of the seven around them, who move like the seven around them, and so on.

This collective governance is scaleless.

A cloud of perpetual transition. A state change of a kind (bird to liquid, solid to gas, steel to rust).

Each unfixed and a part of a whole.
