Artist Statement:
My work is grounded through meditation. Through these practices I turn my focus inward to the breath, and root into the energy of the earth around me. As I inhale and exhale, images appear in my mind of the breath breathing the body. Each breath is a form itself, existing in its own moment. The Breath Forms series offers a symbolic permanence to honor these ephemeral moments. Through this exploration I find that balance, peace, and harmony blossom within. The Breath forms are supported on tree pedestals, as trees are the support for the air we breathe. I gathered local trees that had fallen dried them in a kiln to prepare for exhibition. In this process, the bark began to separate from the trees. Through further exploration, I carefully began to remove the bark that revealed a communication of pattern on the trunks. This symbolized to me what can be found beneath our own surface as humans. With the bark, I constructed an installation titled Chi, which is defined in Chinese philosophy as the circulating life energy that inherent in all things. Chi has versatility and can be installed on a wall, ceiling, and can wrap around any beams present inside the space for exhibition. Soft Pebbles for Reflection is a series of handmade pillows that can be installed in piles around the room if the space provides, and/or positioned below the Chi installation that invites a place for meditation.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rossini was formally trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the United States’ first art museum and art school founded in 1805. With a rich history in classical tradition, Rossini received the Master of Fine Art in 2022. Through residencies in Pietrasanta, Italy, Rossini was formally trained in marble carving traditions passed down from generations of master artisans in the region. Rossini’s sculptures are hand carved from marble stone sourced from the Altissimo mountains of Carrera where she spent time meditating and connecting with the source of the material that she is drawn to.
