Veterans Day Weekend Program at CAS

Together with Catskill Mountainkeeper, Catskill Art Space will present a screening and discussion of Michel Negroponte’s film Herd, on Saturday, November 11 at 5pm in the CAS River Gallery. Negroponte was inspired to make his film after a herd of shaggy Belted Galloway cattle was delivered to a neighboring pasture by his home in Livingston Manor. As his fascination with the cows and their daily routines through the changing seasons grew, Negroponte began to reflect on the idea of animal personhood. The resulting essay film is equal part rumination, observation, and meditation. It reveals the cow’s essence and challenges us to think differently about our fellow living animal beings.
