Sing It Loud: Songs of Protest
Singer-songwriters from a small, rural community in upstate New York and surrounding areas will perform “Sing It Loud,” a live concert featuring songs of protest intended to inspire people locally and nationally to do the same on street corners, in clubs and concert halls, online and everywhere music can be heard. The producers are declaring Sunday, May 18 National Sing It Loud Day.
The concert will be presented Sunday, May 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. before a live audience in Delaware Hall at the Narrowsburg Union, 7 Erie Ave.
Admission is free but contributions will be gladly accepted.
The event will be streamed live on Facebook. The program features classic and original protest songs and includes a sing-along with the audience.
“Sing It Loud” is being produced by Kathy Joan Geary, Cynthia Nash and Jill Padua and was first conceived by Jane Bollinger after reading a January 2025 Rolling Stone article, “The 100 Best Protest Songs of All Time.”
“The music of protest has a long history in the United States of America, and its songs are a testament to defining moments in the history of this nation,” said Geary, a radio host and musician.
Nash calls the event “a celebration of free speech through song.”
