Salon Series: Words & Sounds of Wood

Join DVAA on Saturday, February 26, at 2 pm for “Words & Sounds of Wood,” presented in conjunction with the exhibition For the Love of Wood, on view through March 27, 2022.

The program will feature local poets reading works about trees, working in a woodshop, re-finishing floors, chopping wood, and more. While musicians will sing tree-inspired songs and play handmade wood-based instruments.

Special features of the event will be a choral poem/song “How Much Wood….Chuck Chuck” with a mix of voices accompanied by a chorus of wooden instruments. Concluding the event will be a musical improvisation inviting audience members to use wood blocks of different sizes and timbres.

Led by exhibition co-curator and Sullivan County Poet Laureate Eric Baylin and featuring readings and musical performances by Rachel Baum, Pete Comstock, Mary Greene, Dan Brinkerhoff, Theresa Perez, and others.

Salon Series events are free and open to the public. Donations are welcome!
