Robin Almquist | The Space Between You and Me
Robyn Almquist | The Space Between You and Me
On View February 11th – March 26th
Opening Reception: February 11th, 4–6 PM
An artist talk is scheduled for February 25th, details to come.
Robyn Almquist combines painting, collage, and printmaking to confront the intractable subjects of environmental destruction, gun violence, wealth disparity, political polarization, and power. According to the artist, “despite new technology and creative thinking, the current power structure ensures that solutions to these problems will not be found.” She states, “The solution is love and compassion— not money and power. Our society has reached the tipping point, and love and compassion seem to be losing.” Almquist attempts to make a difference by creating a dialogue between those who value love and community and those who admire power and greed.
Robyn Almquist is a multi-faceted artist, publisher, and curator living and working in Livingston Manor. She is the founder and creative director of ArtKill Catskill magazine. Almquist is deeply involved with Catskill Art Space (CAS), through her work on the board, teaching CAS Kids, and as Interim Executive Director. She received her BA in Studio Art from Colorado College. Almquist’s work regularly appears in group shows at DVAA and throughout the Sullivan Catskills.
