Phillipsport Community Center Monthly Music

Janet Burgan, Americana singer/songwriter, grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio down the street from Chrissy Hynde and across town from DEVO. She went to conservatory on piano and trombone, then moved to Boston to study voice. She’s played with Dwight Yoakam, Dave Alvin, Marcia Ball and Marshall Crenshaw. On Sundays you will find her as a lyric soprano soloist in an Episcopal church. She splits her time between rural Pennsylvania, New York City and New Orleans.

Little Sparrow has been playing and providing a platform for live music in the Western Catskills and beyond for over a decade.  Their music is a healthy mix of blues, rock, soul and jazz.  Aldo Troiani (guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Carol Smith (guitar, vocals) are the founding members of the band. Their music combines cool blended harmonies, gratuitous guitar solos and a distinctly Jerry Garcia-esque flavor.
