Joni Wehrli | Garden Variety
Joni Wehrli oscillates between painting and sculpture, creating otherworldly biomorphic imaginings. Her sculptures reference forms found in her paintings, which were inspired by illustrations in medical textbooks. When Wehrli extracts these organic forms from her paintings and transitions them into sculptures, the results expose the artist’s comical side, revealed through her joining together of disparate and often unyielding materials.
