Gordian Knot Resolved Artist Talk with Dale Emmart and Glenn Lieberman

The Wayne County Arts Alliance Gallery invites you to an artist talk on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 2pm till 4pm. Artists Dale Emmart and Glenn Lieberman will talk about “Gordian Knot Resolved”, (on view through June 20) their two person, self curated exhibition of drawings, paintings, photographs, and music. Gordian Knot Resolved is an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Dale Emmart, and photographs and music by Glenn Lieberman. According to the Greek myth, King Gordius of Phrygia tethered his ox-cart with a knot so complex it could only be untied by a future ruler of all Asia. Today, the Gordian Knot has become a metaphor for a problem seeming to have no possible solution. Ropes and knots form a global language of the industry of existence. Drawing confused and tangled ropes by following a path of twisted strands is a direct, linear trope for Emmart of current social, political, environmental, and personal questions. In the tale of the Gordian Knot Alexander the Great, struggling to untie the knot then disentangled it with a single whack of his sword. A bold move. Lieberman’s photographs display a possible solution to Emmart’s conundrums: decisive action. Photographs are of protesters speaking, and seeking out those of like mind for rectification and cathartic relief. Also included in the exhibition is the premiere of a musical work by Liebeman to accompany three of Emmart’s drawings. (To hear the music, bring a phone with headphones to the gallery.)
