Enchant & Inspire: An afternoon of Classical Music for All Ages
DVAA and The Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra (SCCO) invites families and music lovers of all ages to a special performance featuring two beloved works that promise to enchant and inspire. SCCO will present a dynamic concert with a chamber arrangement of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf alongside an original arrangement of Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1.
The program will open with Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, arranged for chamber orchestra. Originally composed for Henrik Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt, this four-movement suite reflects the dramatic and fantastical journey of its protagonist, Peer Gynt. The suite opens with the peaceful and dreamlike Morning theme, followed by the sorrowful Aase’s Death. Anitra’s Dance provides a lively contrast, and the concert will close with the rousing and iconic In the Hall of the Mountain King. Grieg’s brilliant use of orchestration and his ability to evoke powerful emotions through music will transport the audience to a world of myth, mystery, and adventure.
A Celebration of Youth Talent
SCCO provides enriching musical experiences for listeners of all ages, and this concert will also feature a special highlight: students from the Aspiring Young Musicians (AYM) program, an educational initiative of SCCO. These talented young musicians will have the unique opportunity to perform solo pieces in front of a live audience, sharing the stage with the accomplished orchestra. The performance will showcase the dedication, passion, and skill of the next generation of musicians, inspiring both performers and listeners.
