DVAA invites you to Sylvan Land– The Spirit of Sullivan in Word and Song, a special event led by Sullivan County Poet Laureate Eric Baylin who will be sharing poetry and songs he has written over the course of his tenure this past year.
Accompanying Baylin will be musicians Dan Brinkerhoff, Joanne Wasserman and others who will join him to celebrate the spirit of County Sullivan.
Christine San Jose, lover of poetry and well-known reader extraordinaire, will bring to life the poetry of Alfred B. Street, a 19th century Sullivan County poet who extolled the county’s virtues: its sylvan stretches, rushing streams and rivers, and spacious views of distant hills.
Eric will read poems he wrote for specific county festivals and occasions that embody the generous spirit of the place. His readings will include new poems such as: Perimeter Drive – Circling the County, and Pudding – A Sullivan Diner Tour.
A special feature will be presentations by several of the stellar young poets who shone in the recent Sullivan Youth Poetry Festival at Bethel Woods, an event that Eric inaugurated this year.
Admission is free though registration through the DVAA website is necessary to reserve a seat.
