Join us for a week-long film camp for kids from August 8 – August 12. Over the course of five fun-filled days together you will collaborate with each other and go through the crucial steps together to create a well-crafted short film!
DVAA is thrilled to partner with the Slate Film Center in offering this immersive week long arts camp for kids ages 8-12. Everyone contributes and everyone plays a part in bringing a film to life!
- Day 1: Introductions
Let’s get acquainted with each other, the equipment, story idea, watch references, and shoot mock scene.
- Day 2: Production
Students begin shooting their final project. All students rotate through different roles and responsibilities.
- Day 3: Production
Students continue shooting their final project. Watch dailies.
- Day 4: Post-Production
Pick-up shots, wrap shooting. Students will learn editing techniques on Adobe Premiere.
- Day 5: Credit Shots/Screening
Last minute and specialized touches to edit. Premiere!!!!
Each day begins at 9am and ends at 3pm. Lunch and snacks are provided. Together we’ll explore the power of cinematic storytelling while learning to collaborate and work towards a shared vision!

As a screenwriter and producer, I have traveled the world, working with teams big and small, to create award-winning, powerful and meaningful stories. With over 10 years of experience working in classrooms, camps and after-school programs; I know everybody has a story worth telling.
Jack Butler He/him (Co-founder/Curriculum Director)
As a videographer, I have produced all sorts of video content including music videos, short films, commercials, and other promotional content. As someone who attended after-school programs based in film and media, I understand the role that early education and community play in the growth of individuals.
