DVAA and Catskills Pride invite you to an Artist Mixer on Thursday, July 18th, from 5 to 8 pm in Krause Hall. This special kickoff to Upstate Art Weekend features an artist talk with exhibiting artist Danielle Klebes, followed by local cocktails by Catskill Provisions.

Upstate Art Weekend!
Thursday through Sunday, DVAA is joining over 140 cultural organizations celebrating art and culture in ten counties in the Catskill Mountain and Hudson Valley.

For this special event we’ve partnered with Catskills Pride to host an artist mixer with Danielle Klebes. Danielle will be on hand to lead an artist talk in the galleries, followed by craft cocktails and socializing in Krause Hall. Join us!

About the Exhibition:
“Home Life” by Danielle Klebes
Large-scale vibrant paintings inspired by Klebes’ experience renting a furnished apartment from a Hemingway-type artist. Taxidermy adorned the walls; a liquor cabinet concealed a secret room with a large bed. An inexplicable sense of ownership and pride enveloped the artist for that apartment. There was a humorous aspect to a queer female and her queer friends inhabiting that space. In “Home Life,” Klebes presents intimate interior scenes where figures exude comfort, allowing themselves to be vulnerable – often lost in thought, naked, surrounded by objects and community within den-like environments.

About Catskills Pride:

What began as an informal group of full and part-time residents to create a welcoming and safe environment for the LGBTQIA+ community has evolved into an organization that has an active voice in the broader Catskills and its neighboring New York communities. Catskills Pride focuses on improving visibility and social support in areas such as education, business, arts & entertainment, and tourism.

About Upstate Art Weekend:
