Artist Conversation with Glenn Lieberman

Saturday, July 20, 2024

Join us for coffee and pastries in the galleries on Saturday, July 20th, at 11 am. DVAA is hosting an Artist Conversation with exhibiting photographer Glenn Lieberman, who will discuss his exhibit, Repossession: The Catskills.

About the exhibit:
The Catskills Resorts, once bustling with vacation goers, faced a rapid decline starting in the 1970s. The resulting economic collapse left hundreds of structures to deteriorate without any intervention. Photographer Glenn Lieberman captures scenes of decay in abandoned Borscht Belt resorts. His lens reveals haunting beauty amid the intricate layers of rot, abandoned objects, and peeling paint. Through formal compositions, Lieberman reflects on time’s passage in exquisite detail. “Repossession: The Catskills” speaks of abandoned, forgotten places brought to decay for final reclamation by the earth: “For dust, thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
