Confluence of Dreamers: Kazzrie Jaxen and Eric Baylin at the Art’s Nest
Jazz artist, Kazzrie Jaxen, and poet, Eric Baylin, will present an evening of original music and poetry entitled “Confluence of Dreamers” on Saturday, September 13 at 7 PM at the Art’s Nest at the Delaware Valley Opera Center in Lake Huntington.
In uniquely blending their words and music the two artists will invoke the possible, improbable, outlandish, and wild with a nod to other dreamers of worlds that can be imagined, including the great Sufi poets Rumi and Hafiz. Expect some improvisational flourishes, mesmerizing drumming, and captivating storytelling. Even tap dancing and tutus might find their way into the stream of these two artists’ ever-evolving creative flow.
Kazzrie Jaxen is an improvising pianist, vocalist, and composer. Known for her playful exuberance, originality, virtuosity, and ability to transport an audience, her musical expression ranges from free improvisation to jazz standards, from original songs to vibrational journeys into the dreamtime. She has recorded numerous albums, most recently “The Dance” with bassist Don Messina.
Eric Baylin, poet, storyteller and spoken word artist, served as Sullivan County Poet Laureate for 2021-22. Known for his wit and love of wordplay, he has given numerous readings throughout the county in the last several years. As a recipient of a 2024 Literary Grant from DVAA, his goal was to work with musicians to create new compositions blending poetry with music.
